No one likes stories without substance as the next, that is, unless you're the writer of said story and you're just trying to get through the week.
As you may have already guessed, this past week's stories were all over the place in terms of my schedule, with some ending during a shift at work and others in the morning during a class. So, what did I do? I picked the easiest story of the week: a movie marathon. Most people agreed with me that it was a story with no story. (I say most because there's always one guy in the back who stands up in opposition of an absolute just so he can prove a point, and, nine times outta ten, I'm that guy. So, I continue.) Despite its lack of content, it was listed on Sterling College's weekly announcement of events as one by SGA, garnering it just enough relevancy to make its way to the budget.
I do not like writing things that lack substance. But when you haven't gotten much sleep, it doesn't look like you'll get any anytime soon, and you're stopping the meeting from getting out early, you take the story and go on with your day of class and laundry. Don't get me wrong (Do I type that in every one, I mean, most of my stories? I think I do.), movies are some of my favorite things. It's the whole reason I'm going to college. It's just that an itinerary of films that are being played is a little lacking in substance.
Alas, I made the most of it and landed an interview with SGA President Drake Koops and what he thinks about the event and those surrounding it. It's always nice talking with him. It was also nice to cover something easy that didn't require much work.
It really worked out because all the other stories I wanted to cover were events that I wanted to be a part of, not a reporter of. I also got sick toward the end of the week. Just to clarify: 1.) I am admitting that I am CURRENTLY sick, 2.) I was NOT sick during the week, and 3.) coughdrops need to have a better taste if Halls ever expects to help anybody with them. Either way, I am glad for my easy story. They all can't be about arsons and weddings.
